About Me

Born and grew up in Olympic Gardens, Kingston 11, attended St. Patrick's Primary 193 Bay Farm Road..What a time that was..WOW!Nuff respect to those who ride the times..Those who dropped out during the many conflicts..R.I.P
Who is Carl? hmm..Good question I am one of the nicest person you will ever want to meet, real down to earth and very dependable...Not afraid of taking a chance, but at thE same time, I respect your rights to do the same..
I consider myself to be an international person with great emphasis on the development of Jamaica. Being a person from the so-called inner city ghetto, I have watch the decay of communities and and the destruction of people by politicians and criminals. So today, I am bothered and deeply concern about the rise of drug use in Jamaica, the brutal and heartless murder of Jamaicans, the exploitation of our children and teenagers by sexual predators, the upsurge in teenage pregnancies and STD,the rise in social and moral disorder and a police force rampant by corruption and extra judicial murders..This is WRONG! This is not the Jamaica I knew. As Jamaicans, we must act, not on the orders of crooked and opportunistic politicians or idiotic preachers, but as Jamaicans acting in the mold of our national heroes, taking a stand and doing what is right by any means necessary to take back our beloved island or watch it sink beneath the waters of the caribbean.
My purpose here, was to spead good old fashion Jamaicanism through social internet contact with friends who for different reasons will never have the opportunity to visit Jamaica..But how can I do that now considering the realities on the ground.. I hang my head in shame and my heart bleeds at the death and destruction of a once proud Jamaica..So I say,that no amount of gold medal and spectacular performance seem to halt the bloodletting..Its a shame..where did we go wrong, where did we go wrong?
I nonetheless continue to be hopeful and believe that communication is vital to resolve conflicts.
The expansion of our friendship is dependent on that belief.. Lets oppose occupation of countries eg Iraq,the wilfull suffering of our african brothers and sisters, untoll corruption, arm conflicts, religious intolerance, exploitation,injustice, AND global warming..
The world belongs not to AMERICA NOR RUSSIA but to all those who breathe its oxygen.. Am I too political?..Such is life..Politics affect every aspect of our lives, therfore it would be silly of me not to be political..God gave us a wonderful world to live, He is not coming back to repair, fix or stop nothing..So start rolling up your sleeve..There is much work to be done..Its up to us..Jamaica needs our HELP!!(email..carljamny@aol.com)or add me to your messenger..carljamny@hotmail.com

A very good friend who will be there for you to the end.

The Gaza-Gully thing is in the prisons, but we have been having discussions about it," said Thompson, who as part of his tour of duty has visited the St Catherine Adult Correctional Centre, the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre and the Rio Cobre juvenile facility on his trips, so far.

The sexually explicit and violent lyrics for which deejay Vybz Kartel - one half of the Gully-Gaza feud - is known affect how Jamaican teenagers think and view themselves, according to a recent study.

Numerous young people between the age of 10 and 18 have spoken of the negative influence of Kartel's lyrics and music videos on them, communication specialist and former permanent secretary in the ministry of energy and mining, Marcia Forbes said her research had found.

Forbes, who put the issue in the context of the vicious Gully-Gaza feud between Kartel and his arch-rival Mavado, said the research showed that the deejay had power over what teenagers thought about and how they viewed themselves based on his lyrics. (See page seven for the full article)
"One girl was delighted with herself because she met Kartel's standard by having a tight "pum pum" and not one that "placka like mud", as
he disparagingly described vaginas with lax walls/ insufficient muscle tone," Forbes said of a girl who "used Kartel's lyrics to validate herself and
her sexuality

He blamed the degrading music offered by some of the current crop of dancehall artistes for the moral decay.

"I think that the artistes are creating a negative impact and everyday I have to walk the school compound to check because of the impact of this on the system. It creates a challenge," Howell said

Police from the St Andrew South police division, seized several buttons depicting the darker side of the Gaza-Gully feud at several Corporate Area schools yesterday.

These schools included a primary institution where the children are not yet 13 years old.

The vendors were selling chilling paraphernalia related to the increasingly violent feud involving supporters of dancehall artistes Vybz Kartel (Gaza) and Mavado (Gully). The cards had lyrics such as "mi murder people inna broad daylight."

"Our intelligence suggests that there are a lot of those cards out there being sold to children," said head of the division

Famous speeches
< < prev page^ home ^ next page >> Friends Romans Countrymen
by William Shakespeare

Julius Caesar
Act 3, Scene 2,

The "Friends Romans Countrymen" speech is a great example of a good speech.
From the start the first three words fit into the rule of three a technique not fully identified for a few hundred years. This was perhaps my first experience of a the power of a good speech - the ability of a speaker to convince an audience of their point of view. I particularly love the way in which he is able to turn the word honourable around to in fact mean dishonourable. I always chuckle when I hear British Members of Parliament talking about their Honourable Friends".

Mark Antony:
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him;
The evil that men do lives after them,
The good is oft interred with their bones,
So let it be with Caesar ... The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answered it ...
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest,
(For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all; all honourable men)
Come I to speak in Caesar's funeral ...
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man….
He hath brought many captives home to Rome,
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And, sure, he is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then to mourn for him?
O judgement! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason…. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

If we must die, let it not be like hogs
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,
While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,
Making their mock at our accursèd lot.
If we must die, O let us nobly die,
So that our precious blood may not be shed
In vain; then even the monsters we defy
Shall be constrained to honor us though dead!
O kinsmen! we must meet the common foe!
Though far outnumbered let us show us brave,
And for their thousand blows deal one death-blow!
What though before us lies the open grave?
Like men we'll face the murderous, cowardly pack,
Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back!

Who stole the innocence, pride and good-will of Jamaica? Its a simple answer that one does not have to search..Dirty, corupted and evil politicians fron the JLP and the PNP.Both political parties are entrenched in the denmise of a country and its people..

I remember a time when Jamaicans were known for the smiles that illuminated the darkness of the world, a time when our cares and concern were not defined within our family environment, but stretches to the single old widow on the hill. I remember a time when Jamaicans were a people of immense abilities and gratitude..But oh how time has changed, a new reality has set in. Rather than braving the deep seas of the caribbean to feed a population with the bounty of their skills, some bring back the weapons of death, to murder, maim, destroy and terrorise all that we have known and love..Jamaica..

How smart can we be..that the most improvished country in the region has become the suppliers of guns to murder our citizens. Nothing has been done to stop the murder of our people. A inadequate policy of community policing and extra judicial focuses the attention on the users and not the suppliers..May I suggest, a severing of diplomatic relations with government of Haiti, until that country take drastic and serious steps to totally stop the importation of guns into Jamaica. Until that is done..There is no serious policy to stop the murdering of your children and family..
